Cadets play 3 (games)
On a very warm day, 14 Gezer Cadets (and 2 younger) players got together to play 3 games. The softball game of the day was part of the Liga Mekomit, Gezer Vets at Gezer Bats. Vets scored 1 in the top of the 1st, Bats threatened but left runners on 2nd and 3rd. Vets scored 4 in the 2nd, Bats scored 1 in the bottom of the 3rd but again stranded a runner in scoring position. Vets added 2 runs in the 4th, Bats went 1-2-3 in their half. Final score: Vets 7, Bats 1. Games 2 and 3 of the day were against a young Beit Shemesh team, led by Coach Ross. In the first game between the teams, Gezer led 4-0, 8-4 and 14-11, but a wild pitch brought in the winning run for Beit Shemesh, 15-14. The second game was shortened, due to the previous game lasting well over 2 hrs. Beit Shemesh led 5-0, Gezer came back to lead 6-5, but a 3-run last inning was too much, and Gezer lost 8-7. Congrats to the effort of the teams! Some of the kids played 3 games in 33-degree C heat, and are commended!
